A tricycle driver who had been missing for five days was found dead early morning of Nov 30, 2020 in La Paz, Iloilo City.

A resident who was about to pick kangkong (water spinach) found the body of Mark Henry Alapasan in a swampy area in Barangay Banuyao.

Major Edsel Balibadlan, La Paz police chief, said there was no house within a few hundred meters from the spot where Alpasan’s body was found around 6:30 am Monday.

The body of Alapasan, 29, a resident of Zamora Extension, Concepcion, City Proper, Iloilo, was already bloated and in the advance state of decomposition when found.

A quick check by authorities revealed that the victim’s face may have been struck with a hard object.

Alapasan’s family had sought the help of social media to locate his whereabouts after he was reported missing.

He was last seen alive early morning of November 25 after transporting a vendor from their village to La Paz public market.

He failed to get home after that.

The following day, his tricycle was found parked at La Paz plaza.

Nothing was heard from him until Monday morning.

Balibadlan said investigation is still going on to identify the suspects and determine the motive for the killing.
