Tricycle driver shot dead

BACOLOD City – A tricycle driver was gunned down by an unidentified suspect in front of his house on Lopez Jaena Street at Barangay 2, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental yesterday.

Killed was Joenel Tomazar, 49, of the said village.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Adrian Acollador, deputy provincial director for administration of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), said Tomazar was repairing his tricycle outside his house around 6:50 a.m. when the assailant arrived and shot him.

“He was shot at close range, Acollador said.” The gunman then fled.

The victim succumbed to a lone gunshot wound on the head.

Police recovered from the scene a fired cartridge of .45-caliber ammunition.

Authorities are eyeing old grudges as motive since the victim has no criminal record.

Investigation is ongoing.
