A transgender person was found dead afternoon of Tuesday at an apartelle in Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan.

The Malay Police Station withheld the person’s identity since his death could be related to COVID-19.

When Daily Guardian clarified the person’s gender, Lieutenant Colonel Don Dicksie de Dios, Malay police chief, referred to him as a male by birth.

It was gathered that the victim was both found positive in antigen and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests for COVID-19.

Reports from the local police stated that they received report that a dead person was found around 2 p.m. of Tuesday inside an apartelle at Station 3 in Barangay Manoc-Manoc, Boracay.

Police found the dead body in Room 11 of the apartelle.

The victim was a native of Barangay Manggahan, Camarin, Caloocan City.

De Dios said his 15 friends are now considered as high-risk close contacts.

The group went on binge drinking before he was found dead.

His friends claimed that he went to sleep ahead of them claiming that he was not feeling well.
