‘Transformers’

By Raoul Suarez

A friend of mine, who is a staunch BBM supporter, joined me for coffee and to do Hasbro Transformers toys unboxing at my house today. We had a few exchanges.

Him: What if BBM wins and it turns out na okay sya and he is actually a good leader unlike how the other camp portrays him to be?

Me: That’s pretty much an assumption. But to answer that question, hypothetically, if he wins, he is supposed to be a good leader. That should be a given. He is supposed to serve those who voted for him and also those who did not. He serves us and not the interest of a chosen few.

Him: And because you did not vote for him, and he turns out well, are you willing to say you are wrong about who you voted for?

Me: I couldn’t say I was wrong about who I voted for. But I would happily say I was wrong to assume that he isn’t cut for the job. That is, if he turns out well. Since you are voting for him, will you hold him accountable if he messes up when he wins?

Him: We should. I think we all should. What if your candidate wins? Are you going to do the same?

Me: Of course. They are public servants. And aren’t we the public? We’re supposed to call out the hired help if they do not do their specific functions.

Him: Cool. We’ll hold them all accountable. Obvious naman that you support Leni. Did you join the campaign rally yesterday (May 3)?

Me: No. I have work. Would have been nice. You?

Him: Too far. Couldn’t drive out. I have work.

Me: Yeah, me too. Anyway, the best way to show support is to shade that ballot.

Him: I agree. No way you’re changing sides?

Me: No. You?

Him: No. Not changing sides either.

Me: Cold or hot coffee?

Him: Hot with sugar. Aren’t we supposed to unbox that Combiner and that Leader Class wannabe Prime (referring to Hotrod / Rodimus Prime) today?

Me: Ahh yes. But fiiiiiiirst… Coffeeee!

Him: Oh yes! Whatever colors you wear, coffee is universal.

Me: Same is true with alcohol and pork.

Him: Yeah. Unless you’re… well… *laughs*

Me: Leni!

Him: BBM-Sara!

Me: *laughs*

Him: *laughs* Waaaait! What happened to Kiko? Aren’t you voting for the guy?

Me: No. I am gunning for Bello maybe. It’s still days after the election. I still have time to think.

Him: We do not have to come into an agreement that we should vote for the same candidate but we should make sure that those who win will be held accountable if they can’t deliver.

Me: True. Time to unbox some toys. Yeah?

Him: Til all are one.

Me: Til all are one.
