Trade fair to showcase Guimaras’ dragon fruit and other local products

Slated on September 29-30, 2022 at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, the trade fair will be the highlight of the two-day festivities in the island province.

A total of 27 exhibitors will join the trade fair.

Although Guimaras products were displayed at the trade fair, the centerpiece would be the dragon fruit locally produced in the province.

The association of dragon fruit farmers in the island, Guimaras Agri-Eco Tourism Farm Owners and Operators Association (GATFOOA) said that around 1.4 metric tonnes of dragon fruit is up for grabs during the trade fair.

Governor JC Rahman A. Nava said that, even though the dragon fruit that will be displayed is not much, it is definitely of high quality because Guimaras is known for quality produced.

As Guimaras is Mangoes and More, other local products and delicacies of the island province will also be flagged in the trade fair.

The fair will also feature crafts, herbal and organic products, processed foods, and a variety of plants.

Prizes await for the participating kiosks.

The first placer for the Best Dressed Booth contest will receive Php 5,000.00; the second placer will get Php 3,000.00; and the third prize is Php 2,000.00.

Guimaras Dragon Fruit Fest, a first in Western Visayas, is in line with the celebration of the National Tourism Month.

The celebration is expected to contribute to the economic recovery of the province that is anchored on the development of its Agri-Fishery and Agri-Eco Tourism sector.
