Different colleges and universities’ sports programs continue to struggle amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

After Colegio de San Juan de Letran overhauled their sports programs by cutting almost half of their budget to aid in their recovery process amid the pandemic, the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) on the other hand decided to suspend their entire program.

Made as a cost-cutting measure, one of TIP’s head coaches, Potit De Vera, expressed that “it was an inevitable circumstance.”

“With no clear timetable as to when a vaccine will eradicate this COVID-19 virus and make it safe again to resume sports in our country, TIP ownership has dissolved all varsity programs,” De Vera continued.

Suspension of TIP’s entire sports program will also lead to their backing-off in the PBA D-league where they join every year.
