Three persons were killed after their tricycle rammed into a wing van’s rear end evening of Dec. 3, 2018 in Leganes, Iloilo.

The fatalities were identified as tricycle driver Victor Sinaon, 43, and Reynaldo Consorio, 49, both of Barangay Tigtig, Leganes; and Armando Mondero, 50, of Barangay Barasan, Leganes.

Julio Sison, a resident of Barasan village, was the lone survivor of the road crash but remains in critical condition at Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

Police accounts said the four victims came from the town proper of Sta. Barbara town and was navigating Barangay San Vicente around 7:30 p.m. when the incident happened.

Wing van driver Gregorio Saban, 42, a resident of Barangay Buhang, Lambunao town, said he was shocked when he heard a loud thud from behind.

Saban claimed he already drove past the crossing road when the incident happened.

“Saban was also not aware if the tricycle was speeding when it hit his vehicle,” Police Captain Roy Tayona, Leganes police chief, said.

Investigators could not also determine if the victims were drunk.

But investigators are not discounting such possibility since they came from Sta. Barbara, which was celebrating its annual fiesta the previous day.

Sinaon was rushed to Metro Iloilo Hospital and Medical Center, Inc. in Jaro district but was declared dead on arrival.

Montero was brought to Western Visayas Medical Center but died shortly later.

Consorio was also brought to WVMC but was proclaimed dead early Wednesday morning.
