BACOLOD City – Three persons were killed, while another was wounded in separate stabbing incidents in Negros Occidental on Feb. 12 and 13.

The latest incident was reported in Cauayan town, killing a teacher in Barangay Poblacion early Monday, Feb. 13.

The fatality was identified as Nancy Oliverio, 61. Wounded was her 13-year-old granddaughter, whose name was withheld.

Police Lieutenant Raffy Billones, deputy chief of Cauayan Municipal Police Station, said that an unidentified person reportedly entered the house of the victims while they were sleeping around 3 a.m.

Billones said that one of the victims suddenly woke up and saw the perpetrator outside their room.

The suspect, who was armed with a knife, then stabbed the victims and fled.

Oliverio was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, while the wounded victim was referred to a hospital in Kabankalan City.

Billones said they already have a person of interest, based on the statement of a witness.

Police are looking at robbery as a possible motive, though the victims’ family said there were no missing items in the house.

He said they have yet to talk to the wounded victim about the incident.

In Himamaylan City, a male teenager was also stabbed dead by a minor in Barangay Nabali-an last Sunday.

Police identified the victim as Mark Libo-on, 19, of the said village.

Based on police investigation, the victim was at their store when he saw that his friend was allegedly being mauled by the 17-year-old suspect.

The victim went to them to pacify the commotion, but the suspect allegedly stabbed him several times.

The victim was taken to a hospital but he was declared dead on arrival, while the suspect was arrested by police and will be referred to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

In San Carlos City, Alberto Sateniaman, 47, died, after he was allegedly stabbed by Eric Dojinog in Barangay Prosperidad last Sunday.

Police Captain Ruby Aurita, public information officer of San Carlos City Police Station, said the suspect was drunk when he was reportedly creating alarm scandal in the area.

A heated argument ensued between them when the victim pacified him.

However, the suspect got irked and allegedly attacked the victim, hitting his stomach which caused his immediate death, Aurita said.

The suspect later surrendered to the police, she added.
