Three brothers are now on the run after they allegedly connived to shoot two persons late evening of March 27, 2022 in Dumangas, Iloilo.

A manhunt operation was launched against Dexter de Asis, alias Jojo de Asis, and Bayet de Asis, all residents of Barangay Tabucan, Dumangas.

The shooting incident claimed the life of Gilbert Doloritos, 38, a resident of Barangay Victorias, Dumangas, Iloilo.

He was hit on the back and died while undergoing treatment.

Doloritos’ nephew, 22-year-old Jorge Castor, survived the incident but suffered serious injuries.

Staff Sergeant Terence John Soria, Dumangas police investigator, said the incident happened while the two victims were on their way to a wake in People’s Village in Barangay Bacay.

Witnesses claimed that the de Asis brothers, who are all armed, waylaid the duo and immediately shot them.

At the initial shots, the two victims were hit and fell to the ground.

Doloritos managed to get up and ran but the suspects chased and shot him again.

The three suspects returned to Castor and shot him in the head.

Doloritos succumbed to gunshot wounds on his back.

Despite his gunshot wound on the head, Castor pulled through and was referred to Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

Soria traced the motive to old grudges as the two parties have been at odds.

The latest was a day before the incident wherein the victim’s camp and the suspects challenged each other to a fight.
