The Vegas of China

By Anja Yap Rivera

Filled with all sorts of lights and sounds, Macau is a country that will definitely grab your attention. Sights, entertainment, food, whatever you want, Macau has it.

The city attracts people from all over Asia with its numerous shopping and gambling establishments. The hotels themselves are a tourist draw with their European-inspired design and stunning architecture.

Here are some of my go-to places whenever you find yourself in the ‘Vegas of China:’

The Venetian is an Italian-themed casino resort that offers dining, gondola rides, shopping, and entertainment.

Love architecture and design? The Parisian is popular for both; it even has a replica of the Eiffel Tower!

Movie-lovers will adore Studio City and its cinema-themed resort. They also have a water park and of course, more shops!

Senado square is a paved town square in Sé, Macau, and is part of the UNESCO Historic Centre of Macau World Heritage

For those who want to get in touch with their religious side, the Ruins of St. Paul’s is a must-see.

Like abstract art? The Morpheus Hotel is one of the most beautiful architectural designs I’ve seen to date.  It is also known as the world’s first free-form high-rise exoskeleton.

Of course, the Vegas of China wouldn’t have its name without casinos, and the Casino Lisboa happens to be my favorite.
