THE POWER OF YOUTH: TAK ENR AMBASSADOR

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 6 have identified together with its field offices in the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras and Negros Occidental the deserving youths/students from the academe and established groups for the Tayo Ang Kalikasan (TAK) ENR Ambassador Project Year II.

The chosen young TAK ENR Ambassadors will serve as partners and force multipliers of the TAK/ Regional Strategic Communication and Initiatives Group (RSCIG) 6 by engaging them in the promotion of DENR’s programs for Environment and Natural Resources (ENR).

During the virtual orientation cum ENR Ambassadors Briefing among them on August 16, 2022 via Zoom, RSCIG 6 Chief Artemio Salvador C. Colacion give the students/youths a background of the activities conducted by the previous set of ENR Ambassadors in the different provinces in the region. The virtual activity was also graced by TAK Executive Director Maria Matilda A. Gaddi who gave an inspirational speaker.

In her message, Director Gaddi said that this project wanted to harness the power of youth in organizing themselves to pursue a single cause in promoting environmental protection, conservation and management.

“We all know that ‘the youth is the hope of our Fatherland,’ said our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. We thus need to shape these youths to become our environmental advocates and force multipliers to influence the mindset and behaviors of other youths and adults alike towards promoting environmental awareness and lifestyles that benefit all of us in the long run,” said DENR 6 Regional Executive Director Livino B. Duran.

“The power of youth does not stop there. Such youthful power to influence for the good should be sustained by those who will come after them. They are our future and our present, therefore this TAK ENR Ambassador’s Project is our connection to them and we need to train them to do the job best,” he added.

As of date, there is a total of fifty-two (52) youth ENR Ambassadors in Region 6./DENR 6
