As expected, the country’s no. 1 3×3 player was the top pick in the 2021 PBA Rookie Draft.
Joshua Munzon, the player who spearheaded the Philippines in the 3×3 scene both nationally and internationally, will now try to lead the Terrafirma Dyip after being selected with no.1 pick.
Picking Munzon was a no-brainer for Terrafirma as they expect the scoring machine combo guard to fill in the shoes of former superstar CJ Perez who was shipped to the San Miguel Beermen in a mega-trade package.
Long, athletic, savvy, and shifty, Munzon’s all-around scoring game will benefit Terrafirma due to the team’s lack of offensive spark coming off the PBA bubble edition.
Aside from the Chooks-to-Go 3×3 national squad stint, Munzon also dazzled during the last PBA D-league and the Asean Basketball League (ABL).
Next selected after Munzon was high-flying swingman Joshua Malonzo who was picked by the NorthPort Batang Pier.
Malonzo, one of the best talents in the stacked draft, will create a formidable duo with two-way forward Sean Anthony and provide the much-needed boost with his rim-rattling dunks.
For the third pick, the NLEX Road Warriors selected Calvin Oftana and the fourth pick saw Mikey Williams with TNT Tropang Giga.
