BACOLOD City – A 15-year-old boy was wounded after he was hit by a bullet following a commotion between two neighbors at Purok Cubay, Barangay Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.

Police withheld the name of the minor victim.

Investigation disclosed that the victim’s father confronted the nephew of the suspect identified as Virgilio Makilan, 36, a tricycle driver.

Makilan’s nephew allegedly created a disturbance by accelerating his motorcycle in front of the victim’s house.

However, Makilan’s nephew allegedly challenged the victim’s father to a fight, prompting the latter to get out of his house armed with a wooden stick.

Makilan then appeared with a homemade shotgun and suddenly shot the victim’s father.

But the victim’s father evaded the attack by dropping to the ground.

His son, who was walking after him, was hit in his leg and was taken to Bago City Hospital by his relatives.

The suspect was arrested and will be charged with attempted murder, according to Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, Bago City police chief.

Malong said they are eyeing grudges as possible motive in the incident.
