BACOLOD City – A grandson hacked his 78-year-old grandmother to death at Barangay Buluangan, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
Police identified the victim as Angelina Escorial, 78.
Police Captain Ruby Aurita, public information officer of San Carlos City Police Station, said the victim’s 17-year-old grandson went to her house after he had a few drinks at their neighbor’s house.
But the victim’s dog barked at the suspect, which irked the latter, prompting him to hit the dog with a bamboo pole.
Escorial then reprimanded the suspect for his actions, but the latter got angrier, which triggered him to hack his grandmother, Aurita said.
Aurita said the victim succumbed to multiple hack wounds, while the suspect surrendered to the authorities.
Aurita said the family has yet to decide on the filing of a case against the suspect, whose father is the victim’s nephew.
