Tanod stabs ‘nagger’ wife; victim to pursue raps vs ‘wife-beater’ hubby

He was allegedly a wife-beater and she, a nagger.

This summed up why a husband allegedly attacked his wife following an argument at their house in Cabatuan, Iloilo evening of September 8.

According to police reports, the suspect, 58-year-old Carlito Montealbucio of Barangay Guibuangan Tigbauan, Cabatuan, went home drunk.

A heated argument ensued between the suspect and his 58-year-old wife Rose (not her real name).

Captain Myles Dieron, Cabatuan police chief, said the couple had been arguing for years but the latest was something else.

The confrontation became heated after the suspect pushed his wife, causing her to fall on the ground.

Before she could even recover, a peeved Carlito pulled a knife and stabbed her twice.

She was hit on the upper portion of her breast and both arms.

Both injuries are deemed minor. Her stab wound on the breast was not deep enough while both her injuries on her arms were defense wounds.

The couple’s 38-year-old son pacified the fight.

Rose was later taken to Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital for treatment. She was already released after getting medical attention.

The suspect fled after the incident but was arrested.

Carlito told police investigators that he stabbed his wife on impulse because he got annoyed by her frequent nagging.

Rose, on the other hand, claimed that she is a battered wife.

Their almost four decades of being together might not be enough for Rose to just let things slide.

“She said she would file a case against Carlito,” Dieron said adding that the suspect might be hauled to court for violation of Republic Act 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004).

Dieron did not confirm the husband’s claim that his wife has a bolo with her when sleeping.

In the same manner, the husband claimed that he also had with him a knife because he no longer trusts his wife.
