Suspected peddlers accuse cops of ‘evidence planting’

ROXAS CITY, Capiz— “The suspected illegal drugs recovered from us were planted.”

This was the reaction of the two suspected drug peddlers who were arrested in separate police operations on Friday and Saturday here and President Roxas, Capiz.

Abner Isiderio, 29, fisherman and resident of Poblacion President Roxas town said no buy-bust operation happened and that the eight sachets of suspected shabu and P500 marked money they seized from him were planted by the police.

Isiderio was the subject of a buy-bust operation conducted by the President Roxas, Pilar, and Pontevedra PNP Saturday evening at Brgy. Cabug-Cabug, President Roxas town.

Two relatives complained to a radio station claiming that the police on board two motorcycles accosted Isiderio at gunpoint and declared the buy-bust.

The police failed to recover illegal items from Isiderio’s bag but when they were about to conduct the inventory, they produced a power bank with sachets of suspected illegal drugs.

Also recovered from lsiderio were a motorcycle, cellphone, and sling bag.

Meanwhile, Michelle Chiyuto, 37, tricycle driver of Homesite Brgy. Lawaan here also claimed that the illegal drugs recovered by the Roxas City police were planted.

However, the tricycle driver admitted he was using illegal drugs.

The police allegedly recovered from him 19 sachets of suspected shabu and a motorcycle.

The two were detained at President Roxas and Roxas City police stations. Charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) will be filed against them today, March 9, 2020.
