The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has requested Iloilo City’s sole power distributor, MORE Electric and Power Corp, to shut down its three substations on Feb 19, 2023, from 6 am to 6 pm.
In an advisory, MORE Power said the outage will affect consumers within the areas of Mandurriao, Jaro, and Megaworld (Iloilo Business Park) substations.
Before the Sunday shutdown, portions of the Lapaz Substation and Jaro Feeder 1 will experience a 2-hour interruption on Feb 18 from 4 pm to 6pm.
The NGCP manages the transmission lines from power producers to distribution utilities and electric cooperatives.
MORE Power said it will take advantage of the interruption by conducting “ride on activities” in affected areas such as repairs and rehabilitation of its facilities and lines.
Last Feb 12, NGCP also conducted preventive maintenance works on its Iloilo facilities which resulted in a 12-hour interruption in several barangays of Iloilo City.
