OOPS, wrong target.
A man who wanted to shoot his own dog missed his target and hit a 4-year-old boy who was playing inside their home at Barangay del Castillo. Sara, Iloilo Sunday afternoon.
The victim was playing with his sibling on the floor of their house when the suspect went after his dog.
In a fit of rage, the 44-year-old suspect Noel Habagat allegedly tried to shoot his dog for killing their chicks and ducklings.
But the frightened dog suddenly ran near the kids just as Habagat pulled the trigger. He missed the dog and instead hit the boy’s left leg.
Police Staff Sergeant Joebert Castillo, Sara police investigator, said the boy was rushed to the hospital while Habagat turned himself to police authorities without the gun.
Castillo said the boy’s family will not sue Habagat after they agreed that the latter would shoulder the boy’s medical expenses.
