Sta. Barbara councilor elected PCL-Iloilo head

SANGGUNIANG Bayan Member Monsik Sullano of Sta. Barbara, Iloilo was elected president of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL)-Iloilo Chapter on Wednesday.

Sullano score a landslide victory over his rival, New Lucena Councilor Isabello Acollador, during the league’s provincial federation election at Diversion 21 Hotel in Mandurriao district, Iloilo City.

Sullano garnered 303 votes out of 417 councilors in Iloilo who were able to cast their votes.

With the win, Sullano will sit in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Iloilo as ex-officio member.

In an interview, Sullano thanked his colleagues who put their trust on him. He also promised to introduce reforms and programs that will benefit the league’s members.

The councilor wants to improve the relationships of the members through the conduct regular PCL Board Meeting in every district of the Province.

Sullano said he will also work to enhance the medical aid program for his colleagues by establishing guidelines for their hospital and medical benefits.

He also wants to develop camaraderie among the members by holding the PCL Olympics.

Sullano said he also wants to introduce scholarship programs for all members and their family members.

As PCL-Iloilo president, Sullano will have a seat in the Iloilo Provincial Board as ex-officio member.

lloilo Province has 432 councilors, including Sangguniang Kabataan federation presidents and Association of Barangay Captains presidents who sit as ex officio members of their respective councils, from 42 towns and the component city of Passi.

However, only 417 out of 420 councilors were able to cast their votes yesterday.
