Six persons were arrested after they were caught playing cards afternoon of April 22, 2020 in Molo, Iloilo City.

The suspects were identified as Jake Portillo, 52; Jaime Nodado, 49; Marvin Domingo, 34; and Rocenel Soloriano, 50. All are residents of Zone 1, Barangay North Baluarte, Molo.

Also arrested were Raul Antioquia, 55, and Luzvilla Morin, 60, both residents of Barangay Boulevard.

Police confirmed that Antioquia and Portillo’s live-in partner are beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), the national government’s conditional cash transfer program.

Nodado, police said, works as a barangay tanod (village watchman).

Members of the Molo Police Station arrested the suspects 5 p.m. Wednesday while playing “pusoy rumble.”

Two other persons escaped. They were identified as a certain Bet-bet, a resident of Boulevard village; and Hubert Molavin, about 50 years old, and resident of Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo district.

Recovered from the suspects were two sets of playing cards and cash amounting to P6,100 in different denomination.

The suspects are now detained at the lock-up cell of Iloilo City Police Station 4.

DELISTING 4PS MEMBERS

On Wednesday, 12 persons who are beneficiaries of the social amelioration program (SAP) and 4Ps were caught for illegal drugs and illegal gambling in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development has earlier said they could delist 4Ps beneficiaries caught dabbling in vices after due process.

Based on 4Ps guidelines, the beneficiaries will go through the Grievance Redress System (GRS) to resolve the issue.

Aside from engaging in illegal gambling, beneficiaries who pawned their cash card will also undergo GRS.
