BACOLOD City – A personnel of Silay City Police Station in Negros Occidental is currently taking a break after he got injured in an accidental gun-firing incident in a village early this week.

Police Major Rollie Pondevilla, city police chief, said the incident happened while the police officer was conducting monitoring operations in the village along with his colleagues Tuesday night.

Pondevilla said the cop’s service firearm tucked in his waist fell to the ground and fired. The bullet hit his leg.

Pondevilla said the cop, whose name was withheld, was rushed to a hospital and was discharged later that night.

Pondevilla said the policeman with a rank of Patrolman has yet to return to work as he was advised to take a rest in the meantime until his wound is healed.
