‘Shabu peddler’ nabbed in Guimaras drug sting

A suspected drug pusher was arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation afternoon of Nov 30, 2022 in Buenavista, Guimaras.

Police identified the suspect as Gerry Gatchon, 43, a resident of Barangay Montpiller, Buenavista, where he was also arrested.

Members of the Guimaras Police Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (GPPO-PDEU), GPPO Provincial Intelligence Unit, and Buenavista Municipal Police Station collared Gatchon after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P500 to a police poseur-buyer.

When frisked, he yielded 11 more sachets of suspected shabu and other non-drug items.

Major Kennith Bermejo, GPPO-PDEU chief, said Gatchon has been on their radar since he was arrested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) years ago.

The case against him was dismissed, though, due to technicalities. He has been inactive after that.

“But he was monitored to be on-and-off operation after laying low since his PDEA arrest,” Bermejo

The suspect allegedly sourced his supply from Bacolod City.

But instead of getting it through the Iloilo City route, the supply is now sneaked through San Lorenzo town in Guimaras, Bermejo said.

Gatchon is now detained and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
