Team Selecta and the rolling Fueled Wings ended their respective scheduled games with convincing wins during the 2022 Iloilo City Basketball Club (ICBC) annual basketball tournament second conference.
Selecta grabbed a huge win over the Clinica dental Dela Llana, 104-90, while team Fueled Wings got the better of the undermanned Big Roys by Robejes Wonders, 95-84.
The rejuvenated Selecta squad banked on its balanced offensive attack that made it hard for the Clinica squad to recover in the last quarter of the game.
It was a nip-and-tuck affair in the first three quarters of the match as Clinica provided big baskets to answer Selecta’s mini offensive spurts.
After Clinica’s shooting clinic from the three-point range during the second to the last set, Selecta eventually found an answer and started to pull away in the final quarter due to their aggressiveness and efficient perimeter scoring.
Armando Acurantes was a man on a mission for team Selecta after dropping a game-high 38 points while Marvin Moreno added 20 big points.
Despite a 36-point production from JR Cava, team Clinica failed to counter with one last offensive run in hopes of punching the first win of the doubleheader.
In the last game, team Fueled Wings continued its stellar outing and tainted Big Roys’ perfect record led by Arjo Robledo who dropped 22 points.
Edmund Yudelmo, Fueled Wings’ main gunner during their past two games, backstopped Robledo with 19 points.
Fueled Wings capitalized on Big Roys’ banged-up lineup composed of only six players and overwhelmed them in the last two quarters of the duel.
It was Big Roys that led early in the ball game as CJ Anatan helped his team gain the early advantage but the whole team failed to play consistently as tired legs started to become an issue for them.
