Team Selecta and the Big Roys by Robejes Wonders squad clinched big-time wins in the ongoing Iloilo City Basketball Club (ICBC) annual basketball tournament second conference.

The rolling Selecta squad survived a gutsy performance from LTC Fruits & Vegetables, 91-77, while team Big Roys asserted their dominance over BacFire, 106-85.

It was a lights-out performance for Selecta after retaking the lead LTC established in the first half. The team banked on the duo of Acurantes and Ortaliz that spearheaded a much-needed 8-0 run in the second half.

The star duo of Acurantes & Ortaliz made things difficult for team LTC as their aggressiveness going to the hole paid off dividends for Selecta.

Hill Jaspe was also a major factor for Selecta as his offensive rebounding rewarded his team with several second-chance points in the crucial stretch of the second half.

However, team LTC unloaded one last offensive run and trimmed Selecta’s lead to just three points but money man Acurantes saved the day for his team to earn Player of the Game honors with 23 points.

In the second featured game of the ICBC game night, team Big Roys rediscovered its dominant form and showed the way against BacFire.

The well-balanced Big Roys team immediately put their imprints in the game as early as the first half and were efficient with their offense.

Despite the strong showing by Big Roys, BacFire’s Salvadore Japitana gave his all to spark his team for a come-from-behind win.

The savvy scorer dropped 52 big points in the game but was not enough to match Big Roys’ collective team effort.

Roed Golez led team Big Roys with 25 points who was given the license to shoot every time he was open from downtown.
