BACOLOD City – Jealousy allegedly triggered a man to kill a security guard at his house in Barangay Minapasok, Calatrava Negros Occidental last Saturday.

The victim was identified as Remart Rebucas, 26, of the said village.

Police Major Lumyaen Lidawan, Calatrava town police chief, said Rebucas was celebrating the birthday of his grandmother when the suspect identified as 27-year-old Junjun Aligioho arrived and shot him.

Rebucas suffered a lone gunshot wound in his left chest and was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Lidawan said Aligioho probably found an opportunity to commit the crime when Rebucas came home to celebrate his birthday on Nov. 3 and his grandmother’s birthday.

Aligioho was angry at Rebucas when the latter and the suspect’s former live-in partner had a relationship in Manila, where the victim was working.

But Lidawan clarified that Aligioho and his former lover were no longer together when Rebucas had a relationship with the suspect’s former partner.

Rebucas and Aligioho’s former partner had also parted ways, Lidawan said.
