BACOLOD City – A security guard was shot dead by an unidentified person along 23rd Lacson Streets, Barangay 5 here Thursday night.

The victim was identified as Jofen Dequito, 42, of Murcia, Negros Occidental.

Dequito was found lying on the roadside with a gunshot wound in the head around 10:50 p.m.

He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital according to the police.

Captain Jonito Pastrana, Police Station 2 head, said the gunman was one of the three persons whom the victim called out after trying to park their motorcycle beside an establishment.

The three persons then decided to park their motorcycle on the opposite side of the road and had a drinking session.

Before they went home one of them returned and allegedly shot the victim, according to Pastrana.

Pastrana said the victim’s issued .9mm caliber firearm was allegedly stolen by the perpetrators.

One of the three suspects was arrested yesterday after he was reported for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition in Barangay 6 here.

Upon checking a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera, the arrested suspect was identified to be one of two look-outs in the shooting incident, Pastrana said.

But Pastrana refused to name the arrested suspect, pending the filing of a case against him.

He said that some complainants went to the police station yesterday to file a report for robbery against the arrested suspect.

The gunman and the other look-out are still at large.
