After several unmet deadlines, local government units (LGUs) in Western Visayas are about to complete the distribution of emergency subsidy assistance under the social amelioration program (SAP) in Western Visayas.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Region 6 (DSWD-6) said that 92.06 percent of the 133 LGUs have completed their SAP distribution as of 12 noon of May 15.

Ma. Evelyn Macapobre, DSWD-6 regional director, said a total of 1,062,199 family beneficiaries in the region have already received their P6,000 SAP assistance.

In Western Visayas, DSWD-6 said 1,472,683 families will benefit from SAP, including the 318,899 members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

The agency has paid out a total amount of P6,373,194,000 through the 133 local government units here.

“We are getting closer to the end of our first tranche of SAP distribution,” Macapobre said.

Of the 133 LGUs, 85 already completed their SAP payout.

Ten LGUs in Aklan have completed the SAP distribution; 16 in Antique; 16 in Capiz; all five LGUs in Guimaras; 20 in Iloilo; and 18 in Negros Occidental.

Forty-one LGUs have already submitted a complete liquidation report to the regional office.

A liquidation report must be submitted before DSWD to download the fund for the second tranche of SAP assistance.

Meanwhile, 48 LGUs in WV are still holding their respective payouts.

These include 24 LGUs in Iloilo (including Iloilo City); 14 LGUs in Negros Occidental including Bacolod City; seven in Aklan; and two in Antique.

In Capiz, only Roxas City is still conducting its payout.

Again, DSWD-6 reminded those LGUs with ongoing payout to observe safety and health protocols.
