San Jose village execs deny charges in housing row

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Punong barangay Albert Calipayan of Barangay San Jose here denied the charges filed against him and fellow village officials by the Roxas City Disaster Victims Association Inc. (RCDVAI) of Angelville Subdivision.

According to Calipayan, there is no basis to charge them of grave abuse of authority, grave misconduct and usurpation of authority before the office of City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.

RCDVAI officials had questioned the mapping operations conducted by the village officials at Angelville subdivision recently without the consent and approval of the National Housing Authority (NHA).

The group alleged that barangay officials allowed the members of the association to occupy units in the subdivision despite the lack of documents and consent by NHA. They also denied that some of the occupants either sold or rented the housing units they occupied.

Calipayan said there was a complaint in the barangay against RCDVAI president Roderick dela Cruz regarding the selling and renting of housing units at Angelville.

He said De la Cruz did not show up in the barangay hall to confront the complainant, which might be the reason for the charges against the village officials.

De la Cruz admitted that he was not with the village officials when mappings were conducted.
