THIRTY drivers under the San Carlos Tricycle Operators Drivers Association (SACATODA) inNegros Occidentalare now equipped with first aid responders after completing the standard first aid and basic life support training.

The training, which formed part of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) Road Safety Program, aimed to equip motorists with know-how in giving immediate assistance to passengers during emergencies on the road.

According to the City Public Information Office press release, the SACATODA drivers were the first batch to finish the training held every weekend from August 24 to September 7.

These drivers received certificates with two-year validity as proof that they are capable of conducting first aid to victims involved in road accidents.

CDRRMO Executive Officer Joe Alingasa shared that the CDRRMO will issue identification cards and reflectorized vest to qualified drivers as certified first aid responders.

Alingasa cited, they prioritize drivers in the conduct of this training since most accidents occur in the streets.

He likewise urged driver of public utility vehicles, pedicabs, motorcabs and habal-habals to undergo the same training to utilize them in case of accidents.

Meanwhile, City Mayor Renato Gustilo led the sticker placement on motorcabs indicating the drivers’ capacity to perform first aid. (PIA)
