ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Sanggunian Panlungsod (SP) of Roxas City mourned the death of Brgy. 3 village chief Ruben Fuentes who was stabbed dead on Dec 13, 2020 outside a videoke bar on Mckinley street here.

A resolution authored by SP member Jericho Angel Celino said Fuentes’ death is a great loss to Brgy. 3 and his constituents.

Fuentes has been the village chief of Brgy 3 from December 1, 2013 to December 12, 2020.

Earlier, Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas condemned the killing of Fuentes as he ordered the creation of a task force that will go around the city to check establishments, especially those operating at night.

Dadivas said he allowed establishments to open but they must implement regulations and follow health protocols.

Meanwhile, the Liga ng mga Barangays here will help the family of Fuentes to get justice.

Liga federation president Virgilio “Yoyo” Santos Jr. said they will provide a lawyer who will assist in the case against the two suspects.

On the other hand, Brgy. 3 Kagawad Rosemarie Fuentes vowed to pass an ordinance prohibiting the operations of videoke bars in their village.

A daughter of the slain barangay chief, Rosemarie said she will ask the police to strictly implement the law against carrying of deadly weapons, especially in establishments serving liquor to customers.

The remains of the village chief are presently in their house at Rizal street here. The interment has yet to be announced.

The Roxas City police last week filed murder charges against suspects Virgilio Vigor and Joseph Jamora before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
