With several names linked to Pacquiao’s last fight campaign, his long-time head trainer, coach Freddie Roach, revealed something that they had been planning.

After Bob Arum said that he is already close in booking the Terence Crawford-Pacquiao fight this year, Roach said that Pacquaio is planning to elevate his legendary boxing career to even greater heights, targeting a ninth division crown.

“The thing is Manny maybe might want to go a little higher and fight GGG or one of those guys who is supposed to be one of the best in the world today,” said Roach.

GGG, or Gennady Golovkin, is one of the best middleweights in the world but recently lost to Canelo Alvarez in a closely contested fight.

For Roach, facing GGG or anyone in the middleweight division would bring Pacquiao a step closer to his ultimate plan in racking up another divisional weight crown.

“There are always good fights out there. The one thing about Manny is he doesn’t want to beat anybody, he wants to beat the best out there. He wants to fight the top guys,” added Roach.

As the only eight-time division world champion, Pacquiao dominated flyweight, junior featherweight, featherweight, super featherweight, junior lightweight, lightweight, welterweight, and the super welterweight division and will try to ink his name in the middleweight rank.

“Pacquiao still desires to be the best there is,” Roach closed.
