A retired Philippine Army member was stabbed dead by a neighbor evening of Feb 20, 2023 in Arevalo, Iloilo City.

Joebert Badiola, 63, of Zone 15, Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo, Iloilo City, succumbed to multiple stab injuries on the different parts of his body.

He expired at Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital.

The suspect, Mark Losano, 32, a fish vendor, fled after the incident.

But upon the prodding of his brother and sister, he turned himself in to the Community Police Assistance Center (COMPAC) at Calaparan village a few hours later.

Captain Resty Labasteda, Iloilo City Police Station 6 chief, said the incident happened while Badiola was on his way home late Monday evening.

Badiola, who drove a sedan, had a hard time maneuvering a portion of Calaparan village since the suspect was drinking liquor in front of a roadside store.

Badiola eventually passed through the congested road but allegedly uttered words to express his dislike about the area.

After he parked his car, he allegedly went back and confronted the suspect.

He immediately left the area to go home.

But before Badiola could reach home, Losano chased him and in a dimly lit portion of the village, the latter stabbed the victim with a knife.

Labasteda said the victim and the suspect had a previous disagreement, but it never reached a physical confrontation.

Losano is now detained pending the filing of charges against him.
