Repair works on press club building starts

BACOLOD City – Negros Press Club president Aquilino “Boy” Ciocon Jr. said repair works on the Negros Press Club building has started.

Ciocon led the club’s induction ceremony Thursday night at the Acacia Hotel.

Ciocon was inducted into office by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson while Silay City Mayor Mark Golez inducted into office Vice President Rey Siason Secretary Adrian Nemes III, Treasurer Henry Cestina, Auditor Elsie Jolingan and the members of the Board of Directors Jonathan Gaton, Bryan Morden, Emmanuel Canto, Chito Berjit and Yves Montecillo (ex-officio).

Ciocon said he is thankful to Negrense Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri for allocating the funds for the repair works.

The NPC building was last rehabilitated in 2004.

Ciocon said repair works, which is the priority of his administration, started with the improvement of the flooring and the ceiling that leaks when it rains.

Ciocon also thanked Silay City Mayor Mark Golez who allocated P100,000 yearly for the NPC since he assumed as chief executive of the said locality in 2016.

This year’s induction theme is NPC at 86, Excellent Media Leadership Amidst the Trying Times.
