BACOLOD City – Provincial government officials of Negros Occidental heaved a sigh of relief after the remaining Persons Under Investigation (PUIs) for the coronavirus disease or Covid-19 tested negative.

Negros Occidental Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, said all PUIs in the province tested negative for the virus, with the last three patients confined to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) already discharged on Wednesday, based on a bulletin issued by the hospital itself.

“This is good news at least we are Covid-19 free,” Tumimbang said.

Although Covid-19 free, Tumimbang said monitoring and preparations will continue.

He also pointed out that monitoring for other diseases such as dengue was also included so they will not get caught “flat-footed.”

“Surveillance and monitoring are in place and will be continued, so far we are already prepared and the systems are now in place,” he added.

Meanwhile, the CLMMRH also included a reminder in its bulletin advising the public to verify information through the Department of Health (DOH) website and stop spreading unverified news about the virus.

The regional hospital also encouraged the public to practice proper hygiene, washing hands regularly, and observing proper cough sneeze etiquette.
