Regional Robotics Seminar 2019 at USA

To promote consciousness in the skills and benefits of robotics and automation as part of emerging technologies of Industry 4.0, the University of San Agustin (USA) – College of Technology conducted the 2nd USA Western Visayas Regional Robotics Seminar at the university campus, Jan. 15 – 19.
The weeklong event was part of the USA’s Technology Week 2019, which highlighted various inventions, and masterpieces of the students from different technology departments.
60 students from different schools in Iloilo joined the half-day talk which conducted training workshop that enhances knowledge and skills in robotics designing, building, and programming, as well as, fostering leadership and teamwork among participants and student facilitators.
Themed “Robot Games: Embracing the Challenges towards Industry 4.0,” the talk also discussed Robotics and Industry 4.0 and Robotics National and International Competitions. The speaker was Hytec Power Inc. Technical Expert Mary Ruth Arante.
Aside from the orientation, students also built their own “invented robotics” using modernized robotics booths. They also competed in the Robot Building and Programming with the inventors controlling their works that entertained the crowd.
Dr. Felicidad Altalaguire, College of Technology dean, said she was very impressed with the works of the students.
“We are happy to host the second year of this event as it shared the best features of our students through hands-on exposure in designing, building, and programming of robots. It also develops problem-solving, creative and critical thinking skills among the participants,” she added.
Altalaguire said they are serious in promoting technological advancement through robotics. In fact, the school also garnered national awards in a robotics competition.

Rest Assured that we will not only teach you the good mentoring and preparation but the skills, attitude – the Augustinian values that will surely develop your character,” she added.
Organized by the Computer Engineering Department, Augustinian Computer Engineering Society, USA Philanthropic, External and Alumni Relations Office, the event was supported by the Hytec Power Inc. in partnership with the Department of Education Schools Division of Iloilo City and Province.
