Regional evacuation center turned over to Roxas City gov’t

ROXAS CITY, Capiz– The formal inauguration and turnover of the Regional Evacuation Center at the Hortus Botanicus in Barangay Milibili here was held Monday morning.
The formal turnover was led by Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, heads of the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD), Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health, among others.

According to Engr. Oliver Zamora of the DPWH-Capiz, the project has a total budget of P36 million.

He said the construction of the project should have started in July 2017. But it formally kicked off in December 2018 after some defects were noted.

The two-storey accommodation building can accommodate 53 families and has a prayer room, communication area and storage room which can also serve as a play area.

Aside from the main building, the project has toilets, bathroom, generator room, pump room, laundry/drying area, and with  materials recovery facility (MRF).

The edifice has an infirmary building for injured evacuees, pharmacy and spaces for the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (DRRMC) and Office of the Civil Defense (OCD).

lt has also standard ramps, and comfort rooms and wheelchair access ways for persons with disability (PWD).
