Referee, laborer caught in drug bust

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A basketball referee and a laborer were arrested in separate drug buy bust operations on Sept 4, 2019 in the towns of Dumalag and Panay.

The Dumalag Municipal Police Station, Jamindan Municipal Police Station and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Capiz Police Provincial Office collared Jhon Lynnon Feren, 27, a drug surrenderer, basketball referee, and resident of Barangay San Jose, Dumalag.

Recovered from his possession were two sachets of suspected shabu; P500 marked money; P12,000 cash; 23 Saudi riyals, a cellphone, a motorcycle, and drug paraphernalia.

Meanwhile, a laborer was arrested by Panay police in another drug buy-bust operation at Barangay Poblacion Ilaya, Panay.

Police identified the suspect as Ramil Reyes, 33.

Recovered from Reyes were 10 sachets of suspected shabu valued at P90,000; the P500 marked money; a caliber .45 pistol with magazine and two live ammunitions; and several drug paraphernalia.

The two suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
