Real estate lending to remain a priority for banks, says BSP

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin E. Diokno expects real estate lending will remain a priority area for banks.

During the 43rd annual convention of the Real Estate Brokers Association of the Philippines (REBAP), the Governor noted that real estate loans grew 6.1% year-on-year to P2.3 trillion in June 2021 and the non-performing loan ratio held steady amid increasing lending activities to the sector.

He added that real estate financing will be supported by firm demand as the government moves to establish safe, resilient, and sustainable communities under the Philippine Development Plan.
