BACOLOD City – Frustrated murder charges were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday against a 24-year-old woman who allegedly stabbed a soldier at Police Station 2 here early Sunday.

Police Major Sherlock Gabana, station commander, withheld the name of the suspect who is the cousin of a 17-year-old girl allegedly molested by a soldier identified as Deo Balangen, 32, of La Trinidad, Benguet.

Gabana said the female suspect went to the police station with her family to confront the soldier, after a few hours they went home.

However, the suspect, who was armed with a pair of scissors, returned to the station after an hour and attacked Balangen, who was being guarded by police at the lobby.

Gabana said Balangen was not placed inside the custodial facility because he might be mobbed by other detainees due to threats from the minor’s family.

Gabana said the police pacified the woman and the soldier. Balangen sustained stab wounds on his back and neck while the female suspect is detained at the police station.

Balangen is now under hospital arrest.

“He is being guarded by policemen and some of his comrades at the hospital because of a threat on his life after what he did to the minor,” the station commander said.

Gabana said that Balangen told him that he was just too drunk when he allegedly sexually abused the teenager-victim, who has special needs, inside his van parked in a village here last Saturday. He was also armed with a gun when the incident happened.

Balangen recently went absent without official leave (Awol) after he was relieved from his post at the Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion (IB) based in Negros Oriental.
