After a disappointing finish in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup, the Blackwater Elite were quick to do their off-season moves heading into the next season.

One major revamp they did was replacing head coach Nash Racela who was at the main coaching post of the team when they set the new PBA record for most consecutive losing streaks in the history with 19.

Team owner Dioceldo Sy was the one who revealed their move of deploying Phoenix Fuelmasters former head coach Ariel Vanguardia as Racela’s replacement days after they broke the PBA record once owned by Presto.

However, Racela said that no one from the team management was able to talk to him following Sy’s media announcement of Vanguardia taking over as the new head coach.

“Looking back though, I just hope they talked to me first before rushing to announce to the press,” said Racela.

According to the report by Tiebreaker Times, multiple sources exposed that the team will have to meet with Racela today.

However, Sy already had a press release announcing that Vanguardia will now be the new head coach of Blackwater.

“I still wish them the best in the next conference and the seasons to come. I seriously hope they start turning things around under Coach Ariel Vanguardia for this will really be good for the balance of the league,” added Racela.
