PSC Guimaras statistical infomercial entry makes waves in NSM regional culmination

The Statistical Infomercial entry of the Provincial Statistics Committee of Guimaras (PSC Guimaras)  garnered first place and most reacted awards during the 33rd National Statistics Month Regional Culminating at the RDC Hall of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-Regional Office VI in Iloilo City, hosted by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

“The month-long regional celebration of the 33rd NSM successfully ended on 27 October 2022, wherein winners of various contests were recognized and awarded,” said Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare.

“We are so glad that the PSC Guimaras was ranked first in the statistical infomercial contest, also proud to say that the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office took the lead in the conceptualization and preparation of the said entry through the combined efforts of our personnel Orlie E. Espinosa-Tabia and Dynn Michelle G. Flores,” Losare added.

In accord with the 33rd NSM theme, “Boosting the Country’s Recovery with Informed Decisions, Better Policies,” the infomercial entry featured the latest program of the government implemented by the PSA for the benefit of the residents in the Province of Guimaras.

“The Barangay Civil Registration System (BCRS), PhilID Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP), and the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) were the three latest flagship programs/projects of the PSA implemented in the Province of Guimaras,” Losare said.

“These programs were featured in the 3-minute, 5-second video segment which was identified with high impact on the lives of the Guimarasnons,” Losare added

The developed BCRS database aimed at addressing the needs of the Barangays to institutionalize Civil Registry System; have a secured database to store all information gathered was highlighted in the video.

The PBRAP goals include increasing the level of civil registrants, removing, and minimizing requirements for registration of births, especially in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) or those persons living in marginalized communities, specifically the Indigenous Peoples (IPs), the common tao belonging to the Poorest sector, the Muslim Filipinos and persons currently living outside their place of birth were also emphasized in the audio-visual presentation.

“Likewise, the short video also showed the PhilSys purpose of establishing a single Philippine Identification System for all citizens and resident aliens of the Philippines, for easier accessibility and application for eligibility to social welfare programs and benefits from the government,” Losare said.

Losare also underscored that the video ended with a line “Ang BCRS, PBRAP at kasama ang pagpaparehistro sa PhilSys, ay ilan lamang sa mga estratehiyang ipinatupad ng gobyerno, upang makagawa ng mga programa, polisiya at mas komprehinsibong plano para mapaunlad ang pamumuhay, at mapabilis ang pag-ahon ng mga Guimarasnons”.

“The video presentations were posted on the NSM Official Facebook Page (33rd National Statistics Month-Western Visayas) for public viewing/reactions/sharing and other public engagements until the 25th day of October,” Losare said.

The 2022 Statistical Infomercial Contest chaired by the West Visayas State University (WVSU) with six member agencies: Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and University of San Agustin (USA), took the lead in the posting of entries, tabulate scores and announces the winners.
