PSA-Guimaras covers 192 households for 2022 April Round LFS

Statistical Researchers of PSA-Guimaras enumerate sample HHs of Labor Force Survey (LFS) April 2022 Rounds.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office completely covered the 192 sample Households (HHs) for the April 2022 Round Labor Force Survey (LFS) with a rider questionnaire on PhilSys which started on April 8, 2022 and ended on April 31.

The 192 pre-identified sample households (HHs) were from various 12 Enumeration Areas (EAs) covering 12 barangays, namely: Daragan (19HHs), Dagsaan (22HHs), San Fernando (6HHs), of Buenavista Municipality.

“In the Municipality of Jordan, the chosen sample HHs were from the barangays of Alaguisoc with 23 HHs, Hoskyn (15HHs), San Miguel EA002 (8HHs), and 12 HHs in San Miguel EA003,” said Provincial Statistical Officer Nelida B. Losare.

“Ayangan with 23 HHs and Canhawan with 14 HHs were the sample barangays in the Municipalities of Sibunag and Nueva Valencia, respectively,” she added.

The other two barangay were Aguilar (14HHs), and San Enrique (10HHs) in the Municipality of San Lorenzo.

Losare also cited that due to the assessment, among the identified samples, 22 HHs were replaced because the Housing Unit (HU) turned out to be vacant, destroyed, or demolished.

“Likewise, the other basis for the replacement of 22 HHs were; a sample household permanently moved out in the housing unit, a sample household is a non-permanent resident of the housing unit, and a sample household occupying the housing unit had passed away,” Losare said.

“The training of the LFS April Round was done on March 30-31 and April 1, 2022,” Losare said.

The LFS is a nationwide quarterly survey of households conducted by the PSA to gather data on the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the population and data for the level and trends of employment, unemployment, and underemployment and to validate the number of Filipinos registered for the PhilSys and their purposes of applying for the PhilID.

“It aims at providing a quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and policies affecting the labor market, likewise, it involves the collection of data on labor and employment. It also gathers the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the labor force”, Losare said.

The 2022 April round LFS was conducted by the PSA as mandated by Republic Act (RA) No. 10625, otherwise known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013. “Under Article 6, Rule 5 of the said RA, the PSA is mandated to prepare and conduct statistical sample surveys on all aspects of socioeconomic life including agriculture, industry, trade, finance, prices, and marketing information, income and expenditure, education, health, culture, and social situations for the use of the government and the public.

Losare also explained that the PSA Statistical Researchers (SRs) and Team Supervisors (TS) shall undertake the surveys in several modes: through a phone interview, online interview, or face-to-face interview using Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) or Pen-and-Paper Personal Interview (PAPI), done with adherence to physical distancing and strictly following health protocols.

Meanwhile, Losare is soliciting the support of all the sample households to provide accurate and reliable data. She guarantees that all information gathered will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and will be used solely as a reference for the levels and trends of employment, unemployment, and underemployment in the province.

“All information collected by the hired Statistical Researchers from the sample households shall be kept strictly confidential and shall not be used for purposes of taxation, investigation or regulation as provided under Article 55 of Republic Act 10625,” Losare said.
