The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 commemorated the National Heroes Day at Camp Gen Martin Teofilo B Delgado, Iloilo City on Aug 29 with this year’s theme “Kabayanihan Tungo sa Pagkakaisa at Pag-unlad”.

The message of General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr, Philippine National Police chief, was read by the PRO-6 Regional Director, Brigadier General Leo M Francisco.

“Today, we gather as one family to revisit a significant milestone of our nation’s rich history as we pay tribute to the heroes of the past for their patriotic fervor and love of country, as well as the courage and sacrifices of countless and nameless Filipinos in our struggles for liberty and freedom.”

“As we celebrate this auspicious day, we do not only commemorate the glorious past but we also pay respect, with the highest esteem, to our many modern-day heroes – our frontliners who selflessly serve the community during this pandemic, our police officers who lost their lives in the war against illegal drugs and to all of us who have experienced various difficulties and surmounting challenges brought about by Covid-19.”

“Let us continue to stand in solidarity as we work together for the full realization of the government’s aspiration of a safer, peaceful, more progressive and stronger equitable society.”

The activity was highlighted by the wreath-laying at PRO-6 Heroes Wall led by Brigadier Gen. Francisco.
