Pres. Roxas mayor, bro yield two more guns

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The re-electionist mayor of Pres. Roxas Capiz and his brother surrendered to the police two more firearms last May 11, 2019.

Mayor Receliste “Tanoy” Escolin, through his brother Punong Barangay Renboy Escolin of Badiangon, turned over to the police a caliber .45 pistol due to expired license.

Renboy also turned over his personal firearm – a homemade shotgun with magazine and three live ammunitions.

Meanwhile, another concerned citizen, turned over to the police a homemade carbine with magazine.

The three firearms were turned over to the custody of Firearms Explosives Security Agencies and Guard Supervision (FESAGS).

Last April 29, 2019, Mayor Escolin of Pres. Roxas, Capiz voluntarily surrendered his three firearms to the town police.

Based on records of the Firearms and Explosives Division, Escolin owned a baby Armalite with magazine and 27 ammunitions, and two .45-caliber pistols with magazine loaded with 8 live ammunitions each.

According to Police Captain Armando Clavaton, Pres. Roxas police chief, the mayor surrendered his firearms for safekeeping while he is processing his licenses.

He said the mayor surrendered the firearms because of the election gun ban and campaign against loose firearms.

At present, the firearms are in the custody of the town police station and will be transferred to the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO).
