Post-election clean-up committee to tap ABC, SK

BACOLOD City – City Administrator and Action officer of the Post-Election Clean-Up Committee Atty. Edward Joseph Cuansing called a second meeting together with the members of the PECUC for a situationer and tackled concerns regarding the removal of campaign materials today, May 13.

Cuansing said that they will ask help from ABC President Lady Gles Pallen and SK President Ayesha Villaflor to fast-track the removal of campaign materials.

“Gusto ni mayor mangin normal ang estado sang mga dalan,” he added.

The committee approved that they will start removing campaign materials such as tarpaulins which are easy to remove, unlike posters which are glued directly to walls.

General Services Office head Gilda Lluisma on the other hand said that some of the tarpaulins that they removed were given to La Consolacion College Bacolod to be recycled by the students.

Cuansing also said that any political party is welcome to help in the operation.

Last May 11, Mayor Evelio Leonardia created the Post-Election Clean-Up Committee tasked to immediately remove the large quantity of campaign materials installed by candidates during the campaign period.

Under Executive Order No. 24, signed by the mayor on May 10, Leonardia directed members of the committee to ensure the speedy removal of campaign materials and coordinate with the presidents of the Liga ng mga Barangay and the Sangguniang Kabataan in the conduct of the clean-up as well as with the garbage collection contractor, IPM Services.

Leonardia, who chairs the body, also directed the members to inform private property owners regarding the removal of campaign materials.

Those involved in the committee must ensure the cleanliness of the city after removal operations, he added.
