One of the elite volleyball teams in the Philippines just officially announced its participation in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

The PLDT Home FIBR Power Hitters, one of the most dominant volleyball squads in the Philippine Superliga (PSL), announced their homecoming in the PVL after the prized organization led by Ricky Palou decided to go professional.

“With our campaign in PLDT, which is the strongest connections are at home’, it was about time that we go back to our roots which is the PVL. It’s just refreshing to have a new beginning,” said PLDT and SMART Head of Sports Jude Turcuato.

Six years ago, the first volleyball tournament that the Power Hitters joined was the PVL carrying the name Ultra Fast Hitters.

Roger Gorayeb, head coach of the team who helped PLDT capture both the Open and Reinforced Conference Championships in 2015, will again man the sidelines this upcoming season.

With the likes of Rhea Dimaculangan, Marielle Gabarda, Maristella Layug and Christine Soyud, the PLDT squad will become one of the toughest teams to beat once the season begins this 2021.

“This is special because this is where it all started for the PLDT team. PLDT won multiple championships here, and we’re hoping to add more. We’re excited to be part of the growing PVL family,” added PLDT team manager Bajjie Del Rosario.
