Pinoy fighters brace for Tiger Black BRAWL

NEGRENSE boxers are ready to defend their home turf a week before their much-anticipated match in the Tiger Black BRAWL on Jan 19, 2019 at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.

Leading the Filipino mixed martial artists team is Bacolod native Miguel Mosquera who will take on Afonso Celso Jr. of Rio de Janiero in the lightweight division in the main event.

With 5 wins and 3 losses, Mosquera is a purple belt holder in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and a Pan Asia Jiu Jitsu Tournament gold medalist. He will represent 6100 Martial Art and Fitness (Bacolod).

The 33-year-old fighter caught the attention of the MMA world after an impressive win via submission in a previous fight. Before competing in BRAWL, he also saw action in the prestigious MMA outfights like Pacific Xtreme Combat and Universal Reality Combat Championships.

Celso, 38, who is a second degree black belt in Luta Livre (Portuguese for “freestyle wrestling”) and a black belt in Muay Thai, will represent the Catalan Fighting System of Ilonggo MMA fighter Rene Catalan.

Aside from the main event, this year’s tournament will feature 23-year-old Marco Birch of Denmark who is based in Boracay. He will face Intoy Paltingca of Dumaguete City in the 160 lb. division.

A total of 10 pro and semi-pro fights will entertain the Negrense crowd during the night’s matches. The competing players are from Iloilo, Bacolod, Boracay, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dumaguete, and Victorias. They represent 11 gyms and training centers in the country.
