The Philippine pool trio of Rubilen Amit, Carlo Biado, and Johann Chua reigned supreme during the 2022 Predator World Teams 10-Ball Championship held in Klagenfurt, Austria.

After getting past a grueling elimination phase against the best pool players in the world, Amit, Biado, and Chua’s last stop for the championship title were against Great Britain where they swept them in a convincing 3-0 fashion.

Before meeting them in the finals, the PHL team already faced the exact Great Britain trio of Kelly Fisher, Jayson Shaw, and Darren Appleton during their past elimination match.

The PHL had difficulty pulling off the tightly-contested 3-2 win and engaged in a thrilling nip-and-tuck that could’ve gone either way.

However, the PHL retooled their plans and learned from their past matchup against Great Britain which helped them score the sweeping championship win.

“Finally we made it. My job was to win in this event and with my team, and I want to thank them because we all played well. We have to celebrate now!” said Biado.

It was Amit’s first set victory that drew first blood for the PHL squad after edging Fisher, 4-3, followed by another victory by Biado against Shaw.

Last but not the least, the duo of Amit and Chua gave the final win for the PHL after outdueling Shaw and Appleton in the mixed doubles, 4-1.

“I would like to thank Carlo and Rubilen for picking me in this event. This is my first medal win from the world championships. I’m so thankful and I’m so happy that I made it with them,” said Chua.
