The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) already reached half of its 2021 Step 2 registration targets for the Province of Guimaras.

“As of September 30, 2021, a total of 49,612 Guimarasnons already registered, translating to 59.59 percent of the 83,256 targets for 2021,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.

The number includes 12,665 who registered through the Buenavista Registration Center, 8,979 in Jordan; 8,252 registered at the Fixed Registration Center; 6,795 persons in Nueva Valencia Registration Center; 5,242 in San Lorenzo, and 7,679 registrants in Sibunag Registration Center.

Losare said 40 barangays in the province were already catered for PhilSys Step 2 rregistration as of September 30, 2021, while 34 or 85.0 percent were preregistered barangays for Assisted Step 1 Registration last January to April 2021.

PhilSys Guimaras also conducted a mobile registration at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Jordan District Jail for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) and in Trappist Monastery for resident-monks.

“Now that we reached more than half of the provincial target in three months of operation, most probably we could meet our registration target in the remaining three months. The provision of additional four new registration kits of great help in the attainment of our target, it will be of added services to Jordan, San Lorenzo, and Fixed Registration Center,” Losare said.

“These new kits are to be in operation by October 18, 2021”, she added.

Losare also said that in partnership with the Landbank of the Philippines, 11,413 cash cards were released to the Step 2 registrants.

The PhilSys Step 2 Registration started in Guimaras last July 15, 2021, after being delayed for a month and a half in its target of operation because of the strict restrictions and no mass gatherings implementation in the province “Step 2 registration involved the capturing of biometric data of a registrant, the fingerprints, the iris scan, and the front-facing photograph. Due to the risk of Covid-19, there were times that some registration centers temporarily suspended operations,” Losare said.

“Despite these circumstances, it has been an achievement for the PhilSys Guimaras to attain more than half of its target and continuously giving its best efforts to serve the Guimarasnons.”
