KAYA FC-Iloilo bowed to rival Ceres-Negros FC, 2-1, in the ongoing Philippines Football League on July 10, 2019 held at the Manila Jockey Club Football Field in Carmona, Cavite.

The most anticipated rivalry match between Kaya and Ceres went down with fiery strikes and fast-paced action early on.

In the 21st minute, Kaya starting forward Eric Giganto was injured and replaced by Armel Amita.

Kaya’s misery did not end as Amita was penalized with a red card in the 40th minute, forcing Kaya to play with 10 men on the pitch.

The first half ended in a scoreless deadlock as each side played tough defense.

Kaya got a breather when Ilonggo striker Jovin Bedic scored their lone goal in the game.

But 16 minutes after Bedic’s goal, Bienvenido Marañon of Ceres scored the equalizer off a pass from Stephan Shrock.

Shrock replayed the moment as he cruised through Kaya’s defense and lobbed the ball to Marañon who scored the winning goal off a beautiful header.

Kaya tried to equalize courtesy of Jordan Mintah but to no avail.

Iloilo will look to rebound against Stallion Laguna FC on July 13, 2019 at the Manila Jockey Club Football Field in Carmona.
